COMMITTMENT TO PROFESSION
Dr. Chanell Dingle-Sermon has served in education for over twelve years as teacher in visual arts. She is recognized as the I AM H.E.R. International "Teacher of the Year" for three consecutive years. She is named the I AM H.E.R. International "S.T.E.A.M. Award" honoree for 2023 and 2024 for her work with integrating S.T.E.A.M. based practices in her classroom. She loves what she does and always seek to improve her practice to maintain student interest, engagement, and learning. Her professional goal is to educate today's generation of students and hopefully, other communities, to see how art serves many essential purposes in society. Today, art and technology integrated lessons are present in her class along with students who are excited about learning. She has won over $4,700 for her classroom and school through writing educational grants and for her participation in an incentive-based wellness initiative sponsored by the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Boeing Center for Children's Wellness. Aside from her work with students in visual arts, she engages students with musical interests through teaching and playing songs on the piano to create a dynamic experience for them at school.
