Dr. Sermon is the recipient of the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication to serving others in her community for over twenty years through providing services such as workshops, on site service learning for students, afterschool art and dance sessions for rural youth, free housing to those in need, donating toys for children, and other free services. Currently, she is the founder and nonprofit CEO of Kappa Epsilon Lambda Royal Christian Sorority, Incorporated. Through this nonprofit organization, women receive spiritual empowerment and support as well as being held to the standard of serving in their communities annually. Additionally, her nonprofit organization is the recipient of the Gold President's Service Award and  was named the I AM H.E.R. International "Nonprofit of the Year" three consecutive years in a row for years 2022, 2023, and 2024.
